Treatment begins...

We went in on Wednesday & had Bailey's port placed so they won't have to continually start IV's for all of her treatments & blood work. Wednesday evening about 6 pm she had her first infusion & Thursday about noon she had her second. She responded well to both & as soon as the last one finished we were discharged & headed home. She did great all day Friday, but early Saturday morning about 3 am she vomited & I found that she had a fever of 101.6. I cleaned her up, gave her some Tylenol & we went back to bed. She woke up about 5 am & felt a little cooler but still had a fever. I called her surgeon & the oncologist & both suggested that we go to the ER even though it was likely just a side effect of the IVIG. Having just had her port installed they wanted to make sure she wasn't getting an infection. We headed back to the hospital & they ran some blood work & gave her some fluids & antibiotics. Her blood work came back normal & after her fever & her heart rate came down some more they let us go home. For the most part her fever is gone, but her temp hovers around 99 now. We haven't seen any drastic improvements in her symptoms & we probably won't for a few more weeks but she's in great spirits. We'll just keep a look out for any further symptoms & forge ahead!
