Early Intervention

Bailey had her 2 year "well baby" visit with her pediatrician a couple weeks ago. He suggested getting her evaluated by Early Intervention to see if she would qualify for any therapies, physical/occupational/speech/etc, since she's had all of these set backs with OMS. Early Intervention is a free federal program that provides in home therapies for children with delays, from birth to three years old. We held off on starting therapy when she was first diagnosed because it was during flu season, but since this is in home therapy and we wouldn't have to take her anywhere it's a lot more appealing! They came out last Thursday to do her evaluations to see if she would qualify, and we were pleasantly surprised to find out that she's actually above age level with speech, and right on the bubble of delay with her fine motor skills. She does qualify though so we'll be working with an Occupational Therapist and possibly a Physical Therapist to help us help her; it's more of a family centered type of therapy, so they'll teach us how to better help her, while working with her also. I'm very excited because we got to be an active part of setting our goals, so we're working on things with her that we think she needs help with and things that will help her in her daily activities around the house. Her first session will be June 28th & to start they'll come twice a month, with the option to change based on her needs!
